Louise Herholt: Super cool gallery walls

Did you know that gallery walls are a cool way to give your walls a calm and harmonious look? And you can even play with shapes, textures and color. Or do you wonder where you can get really cool decor accessories online?

Louise Herholt an interior designer, is giving us top insider tips about interior design and on her amazing Instagram account (@_lisebise) she will definitely inspire you 🌻🍭

We looove her style - modern, clean but also playful with a touch of pastel colors.

Let’s go!

Let’s start with your gallery walls :) What are the steps to make it look cool like yours?

“You should only have work of art that you really love and that makes you happy. I have work of arts that comes from recognized artists, up-and-coming artists and from secondhand stores.

I also have some artwork that I have made by myself. That way, the gallery wall gets a very personal and unique look. Choose a few colors as a theme for your gallery wall, then it is easier to choose beautiful work of art that fit in and give the wall a calm and harmonious look.

We love all your different chairs, how do you choose chairs?

“I love the iconic design chairs like the famous Danish furniture designer Børge Mogensen. I have two of Børge Mogensen chairs and I mix them with other chairs I like, which are not necessarily designer chairs.

I find a lot of my furniture in secondhand stores, and usually, I buy my chairs there. I think it looks cool to have some different chairs and mix the colors and the material.
I have chosen a round white dinner table, to create a calm overall expression.”

Any cool online shops where you buy ceramics, decor accessories?

Kiosk48th, which is an Danish online store have some really cool products, like cool and crazy ceramics. Studio About, which is also an online store, is also one of my favorites. Pastiil Studio, a Swedish online store have a good selection of cool furniture too.” 🌈

How do you choose the right wallpaper for a room?

“I go with the ones who have a calm expression, and calm colors and a little bit of vintage look, but still have some craziness.”

How do you organize bookshelves?

“I turn my books over backside out so it's calm to look at. But I also think it’s cool to organize them by color.”

How has your style evolved over the years?

“A lot! My style constantly changes. I can’t help it. I make small changes all the time and also regularly make some quite big changes, like removing kitchen cabinets.

I enjoy keeping up with new trends and also creating new trends by myself. My friends often wonder when I have something new in my flat, and a few months later they have the item or trend themselves.

When I started my profile, it was mostly about the walls – about putting together posters and artworks. Gradually it has evolved to also being about furniture and design items. I really enjoy my journey and can’t wait to see where it will take me.”

Where do you get your inspiration from?

“Everywhere. From Instagram and Pinterest, in the city, in a cool store, at a museum. From magazines and from my friends and family homes too. I love to get inspired in my everyday life. The ideas just come to me.”
