Eva Linnea Larsen: Fresh & Light Interior in Denmark
Eva Linnea Larsen has a beautiful pastel colored home on the country side in Thy, Denmark. Her way of decorating and combining colors and different forms makes her family home look bright and airy.
Luckily for us, Eva has given us a wonderful insight into her colorful style with this interview.
We asked her about her amazing gallery wall and how she manages to keep their beautiful home in order with four children. She also gave us her best tips for online shops for interior design!
You live on the country side and have a beautiful home with total pastel vibes. How did you plan your interior design?
“I have always loved pastel colors.
But jumping into a total makeover, with such a color palette, has been scary since I have suppressed my love of baby pink and pastels, and maybe found it to belong in childhood.
However, life is too short for what other people think, and when my husband and I agreed to finish a room at a time, I wanted colors! And the adventure began in December 2021.
I am filled with joy and energy by looking at colors and I can already feel that it will be difficult to stop my colorful décor.
Our countryside old farmhouse, in Thy close by the Western Sea, is 350m2, so there are still many rooms needing a little TLC and my head is filled with ideas for each and every one of them.“
Do you have some tips to make a “nice apartment” doable while having four kids? Your Instagram feed looks perfectly in order…
“Unfortunately, it is not perfect all the time. We both have a messy side, which has become better over time.
I try to have a place for everything, try to throw out things we no longer need and try to keep all toys upstairs in the children’s rooms.
And when finally all is neat I will be ready with the camera at once, sometimes I almost tell my family to stop using our house as a home in order for order to stay in tact and I can enjoy a clean home. 😊
However, after a meal or after the kids have enjoyed playtime you just have to start over again, that is life as a mum. Some days I can walk through the rooms, not noticing the chaos, and just throw myself onto the couch and relax.“
You have beautiful gallery walls in your home! How should one plan this and what are the steps to make it look great?
“I love gallery walls; it gives a certain life to the rooms. And if you are not ready to give your walls a color then a beautiful gallery wall can give it character and a frisky look to the home.
A gallery wall should have a variety of poster sizes and to calm it down, you can chose posters in the same color palette.
However the posters should not be too alike, the eye should want to look at all the different colors, pictures and shapes and create a bit of distortion. It is also a possibility to add in a few family photos, but the posters should dominate the gallery wall.
In order to find the correct way of hanging them, you can lay all the pictures on the ground and take a picture, or you can use paper or masking tape that fits the poster sizes and move them around the wall until you are satisfied. I have used both methods.“
What are some of your creative projects that you want to start next?
“I would love to make my own tiled tables or tiled boxes, unfortunately tiles are pricey but I have completely fallen in love with the trend.
We are also planning an IKEA-hack where we will make a bookcase for our upstairs landing. It will be painted 'warm rose' and will be the main focus for the back wall.
Still we have many projects in the making and I love playing with colors and other DIY projects around the house, so we are far from done.“
And last, but not least: What are some of your go-to online shopping sites for interior?
“I love buying from Bahne.dk, Sinnerup.dk, Søstregrene.dk, Hmhome.dk and IKEA.dk.
I do not buy named brands unless on sale, if I cannot find furniture or various knickknacks at the right price I will try to make it myself, drop it or wait for the right price.“
Any Instagram accounts we should go follow right away?
“I love:“
Thank You so much, EVA!
