Claudia: Designing a kid-friendly home with pastel colors

Whether you are a design enthusiast, a mum looking to create magical spaces for your little ones, or someone seeking tips on organizing your home, you have come to the right place. We interviewed Claudia Eeninwinkel an amazing interior designer and a wonderful mum living in a beautiful house. We looove her Instagram feed @huisje.falurod where she shares a lot of pastel colors and super cool content.

Let`s dive into Claudia`s world of color and creativity - it will inspire and delight you. Do not miss it 🙂

Claudia, we looove pastel colors - like you do. When it comes to wall colors and pastel colored furniture, what are your basic tips?

“When I choose a wall color I buy some small samples and paint them on a piece of cardboard and hang it on the wall. So that I can see what the lighting does with it. Or you can paint and paint it over when you don’t like it haha. With furniture I wait a long time for buying something to see if it sticks in my mind. If it sticks for a few months then I buy it.”

Where do you start when you redecorate a room?

“I start with a moodboard of colors and items that I really like. To see if it all comes together.”

Your bedsheets, blankets and pillows are so, so cool. Where do you get them?

“Oh I love buying bedsheets haha. And pillows, I have too many! My number one go to on bedsheets is Swedish linens. And locally we have Wehkamp. Oh and IKEA has nice ones for lower prices, love that! Pillows, mostly HK Living, a Dutch brand!”

Do you have some tips to make a “nice house” doable while having kids? On your Instagram feed, it looks perfectly in order :)

“My tip: don’t overdo small places. Choose a nice furniture to put things on. So that all the little items are in one place. And kids toys, put them in baskets at the end of the day.”

You have beautiful vases and ceramics, where do you find them?

“Again, HK Living! That’s my number one I think haha. And I really love Hay. I collect tiny vases that are made by Foekje Fleur. Also a Dutch designer with a really good story!”

When you redesign a new room - what are your top 3 tips?

“One, make a moodboard, two see if it sticks - do you still love it in a few months? And three just do it! You can always repaint or put another wallpaper on it. Don’t be to afraid to use color!”

What is the best way to keep things organized? Something you don`t wanna miss anymore.

“I love my little crates from the brand Hay. I have them all over the house for tiny messy things.”
