We love your pastel-colored apartment and all the little, beautiful details. When it comes to colors in combination of walls, decor objects and furniture - what are your basic tips?
“I don't really have a specific tip. I believe it's especially important that your house truly feels like your home. So, this was genuinely our starting point. I have a deep appreciation for color, but after a hectic day at work, I truly relish the idea of coming home to a serene environment.
That's why we opted for a calm, neutral base color on the walls and incorporated pastel hues. The gray tone on the walls provided us with a versatile canvas to express ourselves through furniture, like the pastel green sofa, the pink dining room chairs, and various colored accessories, all complemented by natural tones such as oak. I believe the advantage of this light base is the freedom it offers to experiment with a variety of colors.”
Where do you start when you go about redecorating a room?
“Pinterest! Usually, I already have something in mind, like a specific piece of furniture or a particular color, but I'm not entirely sure about the details. I create a mood board or gather various inspiration photos on Pinterest. This helps me get a good overview of the atmosphere or colors I want. I follow favorite brands on Instagram, which also greatly inspire me. Nonetheless, I truly appreciate it when the atmosphere we have in our home is reflected in the different rooms.”
Where do you buy all those beautiful cool decor objects like vases, candleholders? Any online shops?
“Oh this varies enormously! I do have certain brands that always appeal to me, such as FEST, HKliving, Studio Arhoj, Ferm Living, but I can also often find success at local stores such as LOODS5, Ikea, Sostrene Grene and Kwantum.”
What is a cool “pastel home object” that every interior lover should have, let's say the “wow effect” for your home?
“Our cool lamp from FEST. It's an awesome piece! A beauty of a lamp, if I may say so. The plexiglass creates a very cool effect when it's on, but also when it's off. The combination with the light wood blends very well into our interior.
I believe that when you're buying or looking for a beautiful object, you shouldn't worry too much about making it match perfectly with your other items. I can truly fall in love with an item, and I think this is the most important aspect when considering a more expensive purchase.”
When it comes to vases and flowers bouquets - what are your tips?
“I always believe in going all out with vases. I never opt for a simple transparent glass vase. I think a vase has the potential to make a statement – whether it's a cool color or an eye-catching print, paired with unique and special flowers. Furthermore, I don't prefer bouquets that consist of only the same flowers. Instead, I carefully select each flower, one by one. A beautiful bouquet in an equally stunning vase becomes a true eye-catcher on your table.”
Can you share with us your favorite pastel color combination and why?
“Oh, I find this very difficult. I love cool tones combined with pink, but I also really like warmer and deeper colors.”
How do you combine wall colors and colored furniture? What are important steps to consider?
“I believe that color plays the most crucial role in shaping the atmosphere of a room. The choice ultimately depends on your personal style and the ambiance you wish to create at home. The amount of natural light entering a home also significantly influences color selection.
If you prefer a serene foundation but still want to incorporate color, you can opt for a tone-on-tone approach, play with various colors to add depth to your room, or choose furniture in calm hues with vibrant colors on the walls, or vice versa. On the other hand, if you have a penchant for vibrant colors, you can certainly go all out, experimenting with hues that complement each other and create a lively, harmonious environment.”

“Certainly! These are different and diverging accounts. I have several favorites: @fay.vourites, @stephanieot, @prchtg, @sofiedekruijff are also accounts from which I get a lot of inspiration.
But I can continue if I want! Instagram is really a great platform from which you can get a lot of inspiration.”
